Netmask (El-Mar) from Kfar-Saba, has recently finalized an official release of "Netmask.IT!®", a software tool that allows non-intrusive modification and functionality additions to third party products (such as web sites and software applications), using an external component (proxy).
Netmask.IT!® is usually installed as the "front-end" of a software product or website. Then, any privileged user (distributer, translator, administrator) can enjoy special features when accessing the software product or surfing the website. He can edit the user interface of the software (from within the browser), modify existing content, translate texts and graphics, set directionality (such as "Right-to-Left" for Hebrew and Arabic languages) and save the changes. All the user needs is a standard web browser - there is no need for any installation or modification at the server or at the computer running the browser (no need for plug-ins!). This tool is particularly useful for dynamic pages.
The initial target audience is system integrators and software distributors, who wish to customize the products they represent according to the needs of their clients, or localize them, even without accessing the original source code. In addition, Netmask's software enhances the support capabilities of the integrators and distributors.
Even today, Netmask.IT!® is powering major Israeli web sites, in addition to giving foreign applications full Hebrew support. Future versions will support additional languages, as well as additional features, non-localization related (such as format conversion, co-browsing, filtering, monitoring, billing, etc.).
Recently, the Chief Scientist within the Ministry of Industry and Trade approved the company's R&D program, and the main patent which the technology is based on was approved by the US Patent and Trademark Office.
According to Eli Marmor, the company's founder, Netmask has raised initial funding from nine leading managers in Israel's IT industry, and the company is now seeking an additional investor, in order to fulfill its sales and following R&D goals.
